We denounce and take action to stop the destruction and overexploitation of marine biodiversity and habitats
The ocean is the greatest life support on earth, and its fragile ecosystem balance is threatened by destructive human practices. Among those practices, trawling is regarded as the most harmful, and yet it is widely used by the international and national fishing industry.
Gigantic, heavy nets are sweeping away the seabed and all the living organisms that exist in and on it. The outcome? The desertification of the seabed: a picture as devastating as that of bulldozers destroying native forests.
The mission of Sin Azul No Hay Verde is to bring light to the seabed to make visible this huge yet hidden threat.
We do research, spread the message, and build alliances to denounce and take action against the destruction and overexploitation of the biodiversity and habitats of the sea.
We protect and defend the Argentine Sea to change this unsustainable reality into a new one based on respect, balance, and coexistence with the Ocean and its biodiversity.
It is a global emergency that affects everyone. We believe in the power of joining individual efforts to collectively achieve this transformation, each from his or her small-big place. More blue is more green, and we need both to exist.
There are no more excuses or time to waste.
Through massive communication campaigns, activism, and alliances with brands, institutions, NGOs, and other key agents, we raise awareness and report the threat of trawling, and all the environmental, social, and economic impacts that result from it. We also spread awareness and work on solutions to protect and conserve our sea, especially by emphasizing and promoting the creation of marine protected areas.
We do research and report the main problems caused by the trawling industry in Argentina, and its impact on our large marine ecosystem. Moreover, we work with scientists and experts in different fields to prepare key reports and briefings to reach out to the community and interested parties, delivering information that is based on, up-to-date, and backed up by reliable sources.
We give talks in high schools and universities where we discuss, debate, and put on the agenda the threats our Sea is facing. Furthermore, once a month we hold La Marea Azul (The Blue Tide) an open community gathering to connect with our sea, its habitats, its species, and the various tools available for its conservation.
